Recycled Paper Garland

This project is a good way to use up small pieces of paper such as envelopes, coffee bags, shopping bags etc. This garland can be adapted for the different seasons or celebrations by varying colours and type.

Materials needed:

  1. Squares of assorted papers roughly 8 x 8 cm / 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches {of course you can vary the sizes, I used approximately 46 squares for this particular project}
  2. Sewing machine
  3. Thread

When you have cut enough squares fold them in 1/2 to make triangles. Then use a long running/straight stitch to attach together it doesn’t have to be perfectly stitched as that just adds to the charm. My new Brother SE 400 Sewing Machine has three different length straight stitches, unlike my previous Brother which had only one which made it harder to sew on paper. Think a contrast thread colour makes it a little more interesting.
